Cooperative online studies
You would like to gain even more practical experience during your studies? Then our cooperative studies are the perfect fit! They allow you to combine additional company practice with your studies. At THWS, the online degree programme Software Engineering (B.Eng.) can also be studied as academic study with intensive in-company training. This is also the case for the planned online degree programme Geo Data Technology (M.Eng.) that is scheduled to start in the 2026 summer semester.
Essential for your cooperative studies:
The practice partner
In order to study a cooperative degree programme, you need a practice partner who concludes a practice partner agreement with THWS for your degree programme. In the Studienplatzportal of Hochschule Dual you will find detailed descriptions of the individual degree programmes, the schedule, and the respective contact persons. Practice partners introduce themselves and indicate vacant positions. If you are in contact with a company that is not yet listed in the study place portal, the company can contact our cooperative studies coordinators to conclude a practice partner contract. The practice partner agreement must be concluded prior to starting your studies at THWS. You subsequently enter into a training contract with the company, which you present upon enrolment.

Practice-integrating:
Academic study with intensive in-company training
The academic study with intensive in-company training combines your studies with practical work in a company. You apply with a company recognised as a THWS practice partner and for a study place at THWS. During your studies, you will work for the practice partner – especially during the lecture-free periods. Your degree programme may be preceded by a pre-study internship or introductory courses. You will also complete the practical semester with your practice partner. The final thesis will also be written at the company.
The degree programme and your practical experience are interlinked in terms of content, thus ensuring theory-practice transfer - a win-win situation for you and your practice partner!
Upon graduation, you will have at least 16 months of practical experience in addition to your degree.
Advantages of cooperative studies
- Bachelor's or master's programmes with an increased practical component
- Regular salary payments by the practice partner
- Valuable contacts for your future career
- Excellent career opportunities and chances of continued employment with your practice partner after graduation
