What the THWS Online Campus offers

Videos

Videos give you a compact insight into the topics of the courses. The videos are organised systematically and offer you the opportunity to work through the learning content at your own pace and repeat it if necessary.

Lecture notes

In online lecture notes, the learning content is presented in writing and with the help of photos and graphic illustrations. They help you understand that their are interconnections and also build bridges to practice.

Self assessment

You can use online tests to check your learning progress and recap the most important course content. The tests are interactive and can be repeated as often as required. You will receive your test result immediately after a test and can get an idea of how well prepared you are for the exam. This creates transparency and security.

Online exams

All exams can be taken 100 percent online. For this purpose, THWS uses modern proctoring systems that monitor all actions on the examinee's computer. If you do not want this form of examination supervision, you can take the examination on the respective examination dates on site at THWS.

Live sessions

In live sessions, you have the opportunity to interact directly with the professors and your fellow students and discuss questions about the course content in detail. This allows you to deepen your knowledge and optimally prepare for your exams. Participation in these meetings is voluntary.

Library

All the important learning content is included in the course materials and will prepare you ideally for the exam. If you would like to delve deeper into the course content or simply quench your thirst for knowledge, you can access our library which provides access to a wide range of online media (more than 100,000).

What your day-to-day as a student could look like

Our online degree programmes are designed as full-time degree programmes. The workload for live sessions and the asynchronous teaching units averages around 24 hours per week. Self-study phases are added to this. The study concept requires a certain amount of self-organisation which at the same time offers you the freedom to organise your own time. You decide how to structure your studies and your day-to-day.

The following example of the programme Health and Environmental Psychology (B.Sc.), aims to provide you with some orientation as to what your semester week might look at the THWS Online Campus:

Orange: Live sessions à The live sessions take place during six fixed time periods per week.
Each live session takes an hour.
The live sessions offer you the opportunity to exchange with the lecturers and your fellow students.

Blue: Asynchronous learning units à During these time slots, you will build new knowledge with the help of videos and interactive scripts. We refer to "asynchronous" units, as you are completely free to decide when you want to work on the learning units. You can thus move the blue blocks in the illustration to suit your needs.

Black: Self-studies à Learning contents ought to be deepened and consolidated. This is done in self-studies. As with the asynchronous learning units, you can freely organise the time required for this and adapt it to your needs.
Experience shows that the need for self-study phases is rather low at the beginning of the semester and increases before the exams as part of the preparation.
